The UK government have started an anti-knife campaign across chicken shops to help with the prevention of life crime in England and Wales. The boxes that chicken is served in are now plain black with the #knifefree symbol on the outside, while inside the box has stories of people that survived knife related attacks and crimes. These boxes are being used at multiple chicken shops across the UK.

A lot of people have complained about the campaign for targeting chicken shops as there is a prominent stereotype about the black community and other minority groups with chicken shops. This suggests the government are making racist assumptions by presuming these groups are to blame for knife crime in the UK. People are taking to Twitter to complain about the campaign stating that there is no correlation between knife crime and chicken, and that if opportunities were provided for young people in disadvantaged areas, it would be more useful than an ignorant advertising campaign that are targeting minority groups.

Knife crime has risen hugely in recent years, with an emphasis on the youth across the UK but using this sort of campaign is not the way to go about solving it, many people feel.
