27-year-old mother of six has murdered five of her children in the German city of Solingen. After the incident, the woman later tried to take her own life by jumping in front of a train at a railway station in Düsseldorf. She survived the suicide attempt and was rescued by firefighters. She is currently being treated in hospital and is described as being in a serious but stable condition.
The five children were aged between one and eight years old. She had sent her oldest son, 11, to stay at his grandmother’s house the day before.
The deceased children were found in their apartment after their grandmother contacted the authorities. The cause of death has not yet been revealed, but signs of sedation and suffocation were detected.

No motive has been found to indicate why the young mother carried out this act. She has not been questioned as of yet.
Local residents have been leaving candles, flowers and toys outside the block of apartments where the incident took place.
